HOW WE GOT STARTED

Okay, so you’ve heard about what inspired the brand but how did it ACTUALLY start?.

Well, I come from a West Indian (Jamaican) background and in our culture, it's customary to dress in formal attire when attending church. Problem number one:  I absolutely HATE dressing that way. Problem number two: I'd noticed that there were some people at church who wanted to attend Sunday service but were hesitant because they either didn’t own formal attire or couldn’t comfortably afford to purchase any.

My mother was (and still is) the lead pastor of our church so I suggested creating a casual Sunday where everyone (especially leadership) would dress casually, so that parishioners wouldn’t feel the underlying pressure to “dress up” to attend church. As a monthly speaker at our church, I would sometimes make shirts with phrases that related to the message I was attempting to convey.

One Sunday, I was speaking about the favor of God and how good He is. So I decided to put “God is Good” on my hoodie. I kid you not, everybody and I mean everybody was asking where I got my sweater from and that’s how everything started.

As people began to wear the shirts, other people would take notice, conversations were happening and testimonies were being shared.

We are a small family team of four. My wife and son deal with all the behind the scenes activities like design, production, fulfillment, social media etc. while I deal with our customers and fans. My daughter's in charge of being cute.
